Car Log is a small app to log and keep track of the fuel consumption of the personal "car fleet".
It allows the tracking of multiple cars and is able to provide statistics about the mileage, average fuel-consumption and total fuel-consumption.
Depending on the user's selection, the app will present this data in numerical form or through pie-, bar- and line-charts.
It is availabe from Android Release 2.3.3 onwards and has been tested up to Android Release 4.1 . Since the changes between 4.1 and 4.2 aren't relevant for this app, I expect it to work without hassle on 4.2 devices, but so far, I haven't been able to verify that. If you wonder about the why - the emulator that ships with the Android-SDK is dead slow, and while working with an emulator running Android 2.x is working slow but acceptable, working with an emulator running 4.x is just impossible. The emulator becomes so slow with Android 4.x that booting takes like forever, and my Eclipse IDE runs into a timeout when it attempts to deploy (that means install) the app.
I have found a solution for this and can test on a blazing fast Android 4.1 now (running in a VirtualBox virtual machine), but only with Release 4.1 for now.
CarLog's latest version is currently 1.2, available directly from Google Play
|Paid version:||Free Version:|
There are two versions available on GooglePlay, a free version and a paid version. In the current version, they have no functional differences, except that the free version is ad-supported and thus needs special permissions, whereas the paid version comes without ads, and therefore without special permissions requirements.
As with almost all my apps, this app is available in English and German. (I.e. even though this website is english-only, the app is not)
The paid version of CarLog does not require any special permissions. This might change in future Versions, and will be explained in detail here.
The free version is ad-supported, and that comes with the price of special permissions requirements. The Permissions required are:
For a better idea about the app, I have provided some screenshots.
There is also a user-manual available, as of version 1.2 as a freely downloadable PDF.
